Tales Of City IV

Artist Statement:
This is the fourth episode of an ongoing photo-narrative project that presents street photography taken in England, London. In fact, the photographer has been visiting the UK for this ongoing street photography photo-narrative project since 2005, so this series belongs to his long term research about the British identity. The author shows his most realistic works so far within his pop style schemes. The series was captured using a 35mm lens to emphasize a cinematic frame of its constant elements: shop windows, plastic people, flesh and bones creatures, food, garbage, abandoned objects and words. The pop approach is developed through the saturated colours and reflections. In Tales IV, there are common details with the previous series, actually, places, which are mostly markets, busy streets and museums, have been revisited for further observation and to study the passing of time in the urban contexts. The difference though is found in the straight forward reading of the findings, and a clearest intention that may come from the photographer’s willingness to be neat, direct and concise in his personal portrayal of the English society. Understanding art as a form of communication, he has chosen the path that is closer to reality, avoiding the surrealist puzzles viewers might expect of him looking at the previous parts. If some old tales were whispered, the new ones can be heard as voices. Realism and rawness can also be pop.
